About The Homegrownart

Why homegrownart? Yes, that is a question I get frequently. Well to add some clarity to my screen name, in all honesty, I could not come up with something more inventive. I simply wanted to express how I feel about this art form by juxtaposing it with a beautiful, flowery garden. I don’t necessarily have a green thumb, so in the past when I planted a bag of 10 or 12 tulip bulbs, the excitement and joy I experience seeing 2 shoots coming out and later 2 red tulips was just incredible. I don’t consider myself an artist with out of this world ideas either, but I am still giving this hobby a shot. I sift through multitudes of blogs and networks to pick out beautiful works of art, that I then attempt to recreate with my own stash of goodies. Needless to say, I am quite limited on the most up-to-date resources, but that’s okay because it allows me to improvise and use what supplies I am fortunate to have. This works out in my favor many times bringing out a bit of originality to the table, rather than just copying every detail from someone else. Every now and again, I do get divine inspiration and design something that is original and gorgeous.

There is such a feeling of accomplishment I experience after I am done assembling a card. I can then share it or deliver it to someone who will then send it to a special person. The final results again is like planting a tulip bulb. Some cards simply do not turn out, the ones that do are special and each one unique in it’s own beauty.

When I am gifted or treat myself with a bouquet of flowers (or happen upon a flower in nature, for that matter), I capture that beauty by taking a photo. This makes me hold on to a pleasant moment in time. And so in the same way as I create a card from my little corner at home, my garden, when a card turns out right, I take a photo to share with whoever takes the time to visit thehomegrownart.com/blog.

That is what homegrownart is all about, and with that said, I hope you acquire some useful information and who knows maybe even inspiration from my blog. I encouraged you to grow your own garden of art doing whatever brings you a sense of joy and feeling of accomplishment.

Cheers,

Lourdes
